Shofar
A Shofar is a ram’s horn used by Jews worldwide for religious purposes and when used makes a very distinctive yet musically limited sound. Most noticeably the Shofar is blown during the Jewish holidays of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, however the practice of blowing the Shofar is ancient and its application is varied. In fact, there are five occasions on which the Shofar had been blown by the ancient Israelites: at every joyful occasion, as a means to confuse an enemy, at the onset of every new month, during religious assembly (Rosh Hashanah) and fast days (Yom Kippur), and finally as a sound to arms for war.
